30 Under 30...
I'm exhausted but okay with feeling this way. These last few weeks have been a complete whirlwind from our first "Beautiful Me" Experience Showcase to the "30 Under 30" Mixer. Even though things have been moving pretty fast, I'm so happy with the things we've accomplished. If you know me, you know I'm ALL about female empowerment and doing all I can to make women feel good. I know without a shadow of a doubt my purpose here on Earth is to make women feel like the Queens they are every single day of their life. It was always a goal to host an event honoring women who were taking risks and making things happen in their respected fields but I kept putting it off because I honestly didn't think people would come. See I'm not a big name here in Atlanta and don't have a ton of followers or people requesting my presence (YET) so I was extremely apprehensive about doing this event for women.
After praying, talking to my mom and giving myself tons of pep talks, I finally decided to jump, send the invites out and hope for the best. The invitations were sent to over 40 women and out of those 40, 29 responded. My heart was so full and so happy knowing these ladies accepted the invitation to allow me to honor them. The location was set at Neiman Marcus Cafe! Each queen was asked to wear RED because it represented POWER and each lady was beyond powerful in my eyes. The invitation was open to 29 including me making it 30 beautiful, driven and smart #girlbosses. My nerves were on edge from the arrival of the first young lady and my heart was jumping. I was so humbled that these ladies took time out of their Sunday to come support someone they didn't even know. The event was beautiful and I can truly say the ladies enjoyed every minute of it!
We shed some tears, laughed a lot and broke bread amongst some of the most amazing women in Atlanta and I was elated to just be in the moment. Women have had such a bad reputation of not knowing how to support and be there for each other. On last evening, that was far from the truth. We networked! We encouraged each other and we showed why our Black Girl really is MAJIC! Words cannot express the level of gratitude for these women and I wish nothing but the absolute best! We will definitely be collaborating on various projects so be on the lookout because it's 30 Women, 30 Bosses and we are here to stay and take over!:) We salute you Queens! We see you and we appreciate you!
Special thanks to the hostesses, my daughter Karmyn and my niece Kimorea. Special thanks to my framily Tasha for being there to help with ANYTHING from moving chairs to helping to take drink orders. She is truly an angel and I'm more than elated she was there. A billion thank yous wouldn't be enough to thank my mom for not only designing all of the personalized gifts for the young ladies but just supporting me wholeheartedly and believing in EVERY idea! You are the best mom in the world and I'm so blessed to have you!
Here are a few pics from the event!:)
