HIGH vs. LOW…(LIQUID LIPSTICKS)
Tis the season of liquid lipsticks! Unless you have been asleep, liquid lipsticks are all the craze and absolutely everywhere! The beautiful thing about them is the fact you can literally wear them ALLLLL day and they will go absolutely NOWHERE! I am a HUGE fan of matte lips because I don't have to worry about reapplying them (a pet peeve of mines)! Like I said, I have ALWAYS been a fan of a matte lip but these liquid lipsticks have completely replaced my love for matte lippies simply because they're non-transferable and once they're on, they are ON!
A little while ago, I was in Sephora just browsing like I usually do and I rolled up on the Kat Von D Liquid Lipsticks. I had been hearing about this lipsticks but had not actually seen them in person. I swatched a few colors and fell madly in love with the color "Lolita!" I love that on my chocolate skin, it presented a mauve nude. I love the staying power of the lipsticks and I just had to purchase it. They are $20.00 from Sephora. The only downfall I experienced was that it's a tad-bit dry on the lips. I would suggest putting a lip mask or balm underneath so your lips won't feel as though they have cracked and are falling off. Some of my favorite shades are: Lolita, Bambi, Damned, Vampira, Bow & Arrow and Witches.
Even though there are so many varieties and brands with these products, you may be a little apprehensive about paying $20-25 for a lipstick especially if it is your first time wearing it. I understand love and which is why if you are a woman who wants the liquid lipstick trend without the double digit price, you will love these from ColourPop. A few months ago, ColourPop came out with their version of the liquid lipsticks. I already knew and loved this brand for their inexpensive yet amazing shadows and lippie stixs for only $5.00, so I was too excited when these liquid lipsticks launched! Once they launched, I checked them out and really liked them. They come in a variety of colors and a REALLY cool feature is how they show the shades of the lipsticks on fair, medium and dark skin so you will now how that lippie will look on you. You won't believe this but they are only $6.00! Yes ma'am, SIX dollars! The only downfall to these are they can kind of separate on your lips so I suggest putting on one coat, letting it dry and then applying a second coat. The second coat will help to stop the lipstick from separating on the lips. Some of my favorite shades are: Bad Habit, Bedazzled, Guess, Kapow, LAX and Limbo!
Make sure to exfoliate and moisturize your lips before you apply liquid lipsticks to avoid having that cracked, dry, Sahara lip look. Liquid Lipsticks are definitely a great buy if you are looking for a lip which literally lasts ALLL day!
Here's a recipe for a homemade lip exfoliant: BROWN SUGAR, HONEY, COCONUT OIL and a TOOTHBRUSH! Mix the coconut oil, honey and sugar together to make a paste! Apply it to your lips with an unused, clean toothbrush! Massage the toothbrush in circular motions on your lips for about 1-2 minutes! Rinse off the exfoliant and apply your favorite lip moisturizer!
